Terms of Service

These terms are the agreement between you and [Registered legal entity name] for the PinPoint app and getpinpointapp.com. Using PinPoint means you accept them. If you do not, please do not use it.

Definitions

• We, us, our means [Registered legal entity name], registered in [Country of registration] under company number [Company registration number], at [Registered postal address].
• You means the person using the Service.
• The Service means the PinPoint mobile app, this website, and the systems behind them.
• Your content means everything you put into the Service: pins, photos, files, notes, ratings, collections and tags.
• PinPoint+ means the paid subscription described below.

Who can use it

You must be at least 13 years old. If the law where you live sets a higher age for agreeing to terms like these, you must meet that age instead. By using the Service you confirm that you do.

Your account

You need an account, created with Apple, Google or your email address. Keep access to it secure: anyone who can sign in can read and change your pins. Tell us promptly if you think someone else has access. You are responsible for what happens under your account.

Give us accurate information, and keep your email address current so we can reach you.

Your content stays yours

You own everything you put into PinPoint. We do not claim any ownership of it. You keep every right you had in it before.

You give us only the permission we need to run the Service for you: to store your content, back it up, and show it back to you on your devices. That permission exists so the app can work, it ends when you delete the content or your account, and it does not let us publish your content, show it to anyone else, or use it to advertise.

You are responsible for your content. Do not upload anything you do not have the right to upload, and do not upload anything unlawful.

What you may not do

• Break the law, or use the Service to help anyone else break it.
• Upload content that infringes someone else's rights, or that is unlawful.
• Try to access another person's account or data.
• Interfere with the Service, or attempt to overwhelm, probe or disrupt our systems.
• Scrape, bulk-download or resell data from the Service.
• Reverse engineer, decompile or attempt to extract our source code, except where the law expressly allows it.
• Impersonate anyone, including us.
• Use the Service to build a competing product.

PinPoint+ subscriptions

PinPoint is free to use. PinPoint+ is an optional paid subscription that raises how much you can store. Every feature of the app is available without it.

• Price and period. $2.99 per month, or $19.99 per year. Prices are shown in your local currency in the app before you buy, and may differ by country because of local taxes and store pricing.
• Auto-renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period, at the same price, until you cancel. Your account is charged within 24 hours before the current period ends.
• No free trial. There is no introductory trial period.
• How to cancel. Manage or cancel in your Apple ID settings or your Google Play account, not in PinPoint. Cancelling stops the next renewal. You keep PinPoint+ until the end of the period you already paid for. Turn off auto-renewal at least 24 hours before the period ends, or it renews.
• Payment. Apple and Google take the payment through your store account. We never see your card.
• Refunds. Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their own policies, since they are the seller. We cannot issue a refund for a store purchase directly. If something has gone wrong, write to us and we will help you take it up with them.
• Price changes. We will tell you before any price change, and you can cancel before it takes effect.
• No overage billing. You will never be charged for going over a limit. Uploads simply stop.

Storage limits and your data

This is the commitment the app is built around, so it belongs here rather than only in marketing:

• Nothing you have saved is ever deleted because of a limit. Not when you reach it, not when a subscription ends, not ever.
• If you reach your storage limit, new photo and file uploads stop. Everything else keeps working: reading, searching, filtering, sorting, editing, exporting, organising and deleting.
• If a PinPoint+ subscription lapses while you are storing more than the free allowance, you keep all of it. Only new uploads stop until you are back under the allowance or subscribe again.
• You can export everything at any time, on any plan, at no cost.

Current allowances are 50 MB of storage with 2 photos and 1 file per pin on the free plan, and 50 GB with 10 photos and 5 files per pin on PinPoint+. Pins are unlimited on both. We may adjust allowances, but never downward in a way that deletes content you have already saved.

Shared links

Sharing a pin creates a link that anyone holding it can open. It carries only that pin's location, and it expires after 90 days. Treat a link as public once you have sent it: you decide who to give it to, and we cannot control where it goes next.

Availability

We work to keep the Service running, but we do not guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error free. We may change, suspend or discontinue parts of it. If we ever discontinue the Service entirely, we will give reasonable notice and a way to export your content first.

Much of PinPoint works offline by design, but syncing, editing and deleting need a connection.

Ending it

You can stop at any time by deleting your account in Settings, or at getpinpointapp.com/delete-account. Deletion is scheduled: your account is deactivated immediately and erased after 30 days, and signing back in during that window restores it. Export first if you want a copy, because after those 30 days it is gone.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or where we are required to by law. Except where the breach makes it inappropriate, we will tell you and give you a chance to export your content.

Our intellectual property

The Service, its software, design, the PinPoint name and its logo belong to us and are protected by law. These terms give you permission to use the app, and nothing more.

Map data is provided by Mapbox and OpenStreetMap and is subject to their own terms and attribution requirements.

Copyright complaints

If you believe content in the Service infringes your copyright, write to team@getpinpointapp.com identifying the work, where it appears, your contact details, and a statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorised. We remove infringing content and may close repeat infringers' accounts.

Feedback

If you send us an idea or a suggestion, we may use it without owing you anything for it. You keep the right to use your own idea however you like.

Provided as is

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the fullest extent the law allows. We do not warrant that it will meet your requirements, be uninterrupted, or be free of errors. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranties to be excluded, so parts of this may not apply to you.

Place information, addresses, opening hours and weather come from third parties and may be incomplete or wrong. Do not rely on the Service for navigation in an emergency.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, or for lost profits, lost data, or loss of goodwill. Our total liability for any claim connected to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or $50.

Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. If you are a consumer, you keep every right the law of your country gives you, and nothing here takes those away.

Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of [Country of registration]. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country you live in, and you may bring proceedings in your local courts.

Please write to us first at team@getpinpointapp.com. Most things are resolved that way.

If part of this does not hold

If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest stays in force and that provision is applied as closely as possible to its original intent. If we do not enforce a right straight away, we have not given it up.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. For anything material we will give reasonable notice, in the app or by email, before it takes effect. Continuing to use the Service after that means you accept the new terms. If you do not, you can stop using it and delete your account.
